Hey, we didn't hike. We took a chance to see one of those Utah great things...the things you do once and say you've been there. And what better way to see Promontory Point that doing in Railroad Conventions style.
There were lots of fun activities, like egg toss, buffalo chip tossing contests, arts & crafts, railroad spike driving contest, the reenactment of the Union Pacific & Central Pacific and that last spike. We got to go inside the engines and look around. Did you know that the Central Pacific engine ran on wood and the Union Pacific ran on coal? Pretty impressive with all the hard work it took to get the trains to meet as an unlikely point in Utah.
We all loved pumping the railroad car, but couldn't imagine doing that for 15 miles a day, each way, hauling wooden railroad ties!
We also stopped my the rocket display at Thiokol.
This trip was a great way to combine two out of the way things into one trip.
Weeze had a birthday...ohh 37 is the best! I love my new earrings and stamps and yummy cake and family to share it all with.
