Beck Family Christmas 2010

Beck Christmas 2010
Merry Christmas to one and all,
Here's our top adventures and excitement for 2010

* Our family explored the Olympic National Park over Spring Break. We loved the moss covered trees, the tide pools, and of course, a hotel where we could get out of the rain!!!
* Weeze got her best time ever on an olympic distance triathlon at the Spudman triathlon. It was so great to do a triathlon with a whole group from our ward. Half of them had never done a triathlon before!!! Loved it!
* Sierra's pet bird Tulio is our family pet! He loves to be whistled to and he whistles back. He loved to whistle around 2:45 every afternoon when she comes home from school!
* We (Shawn) FINISHED the BASEMENT! We love having 3 bedrooms, a living room, bathroom, utility room, and laundry room all downstairs! And I even dusted the window sills! Now Shawn is ready to do things he WANTS to do...go hiking, dirt biking, going to the gym...
*Samuel is so excited to have his own room! He and Hyrum did a total room makeover and cleaned and organized their new rooms! They were so thrilled with the new bedding that Mom surprised them with.
* Dallin played football for our new Herriman High school. The team went to the playoffs! That's an amazing thing for a first year High School! He loved playing even though he had a few injuries! Oh and Dallin is getting his driver's license in 2 days!
* We all learned something new this year, how to take a canoe down a very shallow Payette river and paddle and camp for 4 days! We all learned how to pack a canoe, paddle and not tip it over, and avoid river obstacles! Thank you Grandpa Beck for inviting us on this adventure!
* Hyrum turned 12 and is a Deacon now. It's so great to see him passing and Dallin blessing. Hyrum also has been into Airsoft guns this year and had a war for the 12 year old party!
* Shawn had a great weekend of dirt biking with his brothers Jared, Jason and -bro.-in-law, Tom. They all met up and and played here in Utah. Our weather pooped out on us, rain and more rain...but come on...it's dirt biking. They did all spend 2 hours cleaning the bikes though. Thank you neighbors for the power washer!
* Having three kids in Young Mens and Young Womens, our summers were filled with Youth Conference, girls camp and Boy Scout camps! I'm so glad Shawn doesn't have to take vacation time off so I can be at all these events. Our Autumn Hills youth are the best!

We all hope that you all are being blessed with the spirit of Christ this season, and remember that we all are truly blessed because of him.

Love you all,
Shawn, Weeze, Dallin-16, Sierra-14, Hyrum-12, Samuel-10.

Christmas 2010 Lights!

What you see when you are coming into our subdivision...what's that???? a Santa Hat???

Hi all,

Here's the Beck's house for Christmas 2010. We have been experimenting with different designs

for the roof. We have found that a simple design really works the best! You can see this Santa Hat when you come into our subdivision and the kids love it. Shawn and Dallin put the lights on the roof, Sierra and I were on the ground guiding where to put the lights and Whalllaaaa!

Samuel and Hyrum love to Play on the roof. And this year, we had to shovel off the roof a bit. Well, like always, Shawn spouts out this advice to Samuel and Hyrum playing on the roof, " Tuck and roll if you fall off!" And mine is, "Just don't fall! You'll make us stop with the lights!"

Well, I think our advice was heeded. We are still all here.

Merry Christmas to you!!!

Pre-Thanksgiving sledding at Aunt WEEZES

We went over to the part for some great sledding before Thanksgiving! Samuel good points for keeping his eye on the jump target!
Hyrum for smoothest approach of newly built jump

Margaret for best streamline position
Garrett for best color of sled...the orange torpedo

Virginia zipping on down, loose form but happy

We give Kellis a 8 on height and style points

Issac takes the show with a 10! The best height and tight position .

Living Planet Aquarium visit with the cousins!

Living Planet Aquarium..nurse shark
Sea turtle that got hit by and boat, they chopmed on by a shark. She was weights glued onto her back so she can dive. Sierra loved this turtle!

The Sting rays feel very rubbery!

It took some courage to actually touch them...then it was more like a game when they would swim around to see if you could touch them again.
There are penguins here...the glass reflection was messing up the camera.

Thanks again April and the cousins for inviting us to the Aquarium for Spectrum day. Yes, my sister knows me well and knows that I wasn't ever gonna pay 9$ a person to get into that place, so FREE was the asnwer for me. My kids loving exploring around with the cousins all the in's and outs of places. I think they love the freedom of finding things out on their own and then showing us when we slow pokes come by. Sierra now wants a turtle.

SnowBird Tram ride!

Hi all, here are at the top of Snowbird! Hard to tell because of the clouds that came in. I love the Customer Appreciation day they do! It's the best! For a can of food, we got a free ride! We zipped up to the top and into the clouds. Samuel and Hyrum were all ready to play in the snow! And it's a good trial run with the winter clothes to see what fits still. We are in need on new snow pants, and I need to fix/sew the gloves...boots, ok, coat--Hyrum's ok, Samuel needs bigger one.

Shawn and Sweet Sierra! They are looking off the back side on the mountain. Off to the right is the Peruvian chair lift.

Hyrum and Samuel, making a sledding butt trail. Couldn't be happier!

Us at the bottom!

Dallin's Football season

Dallin on the Kickoff team against Riverton...big time rivals!! Half or more of the Riverton kids came to Herriman to play football since it's the new High School. Dallin had pretty much an injury plaqued year. But, only a broken arm, concusion and a partially seperated shoulder, that's all...but they happened at all the critical times of chooseing a beginning position, trying out the second stringers and the day before the playoffs. Well, Herriman did remarkable thing by getting to the Playoffs the first year of the school's exsistance was an accomplishment by itself. We lost the first round of the playoffs but we were there. Dallin has had a wondrful time being apart of such a great team and all his coaches were the best! Thanks for a great football year!!
He's out there on the far side...running!

Dallin #49

I've been inspired

Well, here's the deal, I've been inspired to blog more thanks to my cousin Shannan and April. I've actually had the thought to download the camera only days after a fun event. Yes, that's closer to the mark I want to make. And Shannan's weight loss story is great to read! So yes, I've taking steps down that road too...I'm 40 in July!! Well, needless to say I have a number I'm reaching for and it takes looking at it in the bathroom daily to help me not to each so much. I have the exercise thing down. I have cut down on the Mt. Dew super 44 oz. drinks to maybe once a week. EWWW I said that out loud to all of you....you know my downfall!! And I'm well aware if that one thing would go away, it all would get easier. And it is because I don't crave it like I did in the summer. Ok, blah blah. LEt's get a post up with some pictures already!

Family Pictures 2010

My sweet Sierra, she's 14 now! Love that girl!
Hi all, we just took our Family pictures, that is a tripod and someone pushing the timer button and they run, run, hurry the light is blinking, back to the group and say "Cheese!" Well, We do miss Aunt Lydia, the picture taker maginicatco! Still deciding which one will be the one. Not to bad. The kids, like always, make picture day....interesting...we'll say. Man, I don't have to bribe them with a gumball to smile, it's so they don't kill each other!

My Handsom Shawnie!

We took these pictures down by the Jordan River. Love the secenery.

AHHH, Me and the Shawnie...so cute, old...but still cute.

Ok, that was a lot of blogging!

Well, this is a lesson learned! DOn't let the blogging get so far behind! I am holding up my right hand and am repeating this to the computer....I will not get 4 months behind on my blog!!

Hyrum's b-day...big 12!

What do you get a 12 year old???? Well, how about a totally awesome semi-automatic air soft gun! That's all my Hyrum wanted. So I said, ok, then the party is like just having some friends over to have an air soft war ok! That was an easy sell! But note to self, they can't do this at our house any more, they need to stay at the park! We may have a hole in the siding....good thing Shawn doesn't read this blog!
My Hyrum and the buddies

Milkshakes and fries! Happy 12!

Timpaganos Hike on Labor Day!

This is offically the longest hike the kids have ever been on! It took us 3:45 up to Emrald Lake. We wanted to keep it a happy hike and not sucky so we enjoyed the lake for and hour then hiked back down...for our victory treat at the gas station! We also took a friend on the hike. It is actually Shawn's boss's son Brendan. Dallin had to stay home and have an 8 hour football practice! And he hiked it 2 years ago for the hiking merit badge...the 20 miler. They had to go to the bomber to make it a 20 miler.
We all had a great hiking day! And I didn't even loose my toenails! One was already gone!
Samuel, he was motivated by the candy I brought. If he doesn't have to carry anything, he can hike.

Hyrum and my sweet Sierra who doesn't like hiking, but will come under pressure. She can hike fine, she just doesn't really like it. NExt year, we are going to the top so she can have that "I've been to the top of that mountain" feeling.

Almost at Emrald Lake.

Yes, it is tough!

Us at the Lake. There were at least 300 others we saw going up and down the trails that day

This is the first time I have ever seen goats on Timp! Big heard of them

And there still was snow to slide on. Shawn showing the boys a glisade.

Sierra captured a photo of this creature. Cousin Garrett, we need some help identifying this guy. We think it's a weasel.

Now all we have to do is get back to the car! Sierra can't wait!

Aaron's visit to Utah!

Yea!! Aaron & Stephanie came up for a visit! This is at Alison's house in Kamas. Dad, Aaron and Maggie are chomping down on my Salsa!
